This is a website, blog or portal focusing on LNG, a little bit more on Gas and further more on Energy. This website is certainly not the first one focusing on LNG which as we are all aware, just pop-ups and growing as fast as (probably faster) as the Internet popularity. But most of the LNG website is ‘closed circled’, subscription or open only for selected/invited members.
Not very surprising.
In fact, it is just a perfect representation of the LNG business itself. LNG is not a comodity (not yet!), the business is very integrated from the gas reservoir down hole to the end user burner tips, long term contract, dedicated parties in all the business segment. Many of my Oil colleague wonder how can such a business structured so rigidly. But it works. It has been working smoothly for 40+ years.
I hope this website, the database and the forum will promote further progress, faster and safer development of the LNG business. Only mutual understanding and accurate information can promote LNG progress Afterall, we like it or not, what lies ahead is the Gas Era. It will still be quite some time before we embark into the ultimate Hydrogen Economy and Renewables.
Until then, let’s make the best of the Gas Era. A safe, efficient and environmentally friendly business equally beneficial to all the Gas and Energy stake holders. Whereever they are.
I hope this website can somehow contribute to that direction. I certainly cannot and does not have all the capability to manage this website alone and therefore kindly requested my colleagues LNG and Energy enthusiast to collectively manage and administer this website. You are very much welcome.
Best Regards,

Hi There, I am Yoga P. Suprapto of Indonesia.
I like LNG very much. It’s a profession, it’s a hobby and it’s also an obsession for me. My first encounter with the LNG world was rather coincidental. By luck. Back in 1978, very few people in Indonesia aware of the term “LNG”. The subject on LNG was not even mentioned in my school. Yet, at that very moment Pertamina was enganging in a world class LNG venture, the Bontang LNG and the Arun LNG Projects. So, when the LNG company open an opportunity for student On the Job Training, nobody in my class applied. What is LNG? Why we need to spent 4 months of our OJT assignment in the middle of Kalimantan jungle?
I decided to go. And the rest is history, I never leave LNG world since. Only a few people in the world has an un-interrupted 30 years exposure in LNG. The bad thing is, I have very little knowledge on other Petroleum & Hydrocarbon businesses. But that’s fine, I’ll never regret my decision.
My 30 years journey in the LNG Industry is quite colorful, include a 15 years experience in various LNG projects in Indonesia, 6 years in LNG project management position, 7 years in LNG operational management.
I graduated from ITB (Bandung Institute of Technology) in 1979 – majoring in Chemical Engineering, I started my career in Arun LNG Plant in Aceh as Process Engineer.
After 17 years of technical, operation & project assignment, I joined Pertamina in 1996 and assigned to Pertamina – Bontang LNG Train H Expansion Project. In 1998, and was assigned as the Engineering Manager and then later as the Project Manager of the Tangguh LNG Project in Papua. The 3rd Grassroot LNG project in Indonesia after Arun & Bontang LNG Project.
My next assignment was Business Development VP of the Donggi - Senoro LNG Project in Central Sulawesi. The 4th grassroots LNG Project in Indonesia and Pertamina 1st grassroot LNG project for Pertamina as PSC Gas Producer.
Then, in 2005 I was assigned as the President Director of Badak LNG (I was their OJT student 30 years ago!), one of the largest LNG Plant in the world with total intalled capacity of 22 million ton year LNG production. Leading the 1500 employees Company facing the uncertainty and declining gas supply; the complication of unique Indonesian LNG business structure as well as a dillematic consequences of domestic gas utilization policy including the controversial Kalimantan - Java Gas Pipeline Project.
Recently, I have been transferred back to Pertamina as the Upstream Specialist advising the Upstream Director on various Gas and LNG business.
I published many papers on Gas and LNG business in various international forums. I am a member and the Indonesia representative of the Technical Program Committee of the World LNG Conference. I also the Vice Chairman of the Chemical Engineering Section of Indonesian Engineers Association (BKK-PII).
In 2007, I published a book “LNG & The World of Energy”
